Anyone familiar with Higham will recognise this one. Most of the lakes that surround Higham are old quarries, this crane barge was abandoned in the 1960's once the gravel that it once dredged became depleted. This is a highlight on one of my favourite walks in Kent which takes you to Cliffe & the Thames. The ubiquitous cormorant had to be included in the painting,
The lakes themselves are adjacent to the RSPB reserve and the bird life is abundant
